**From history:**

The narrow-gauge railway route Gabela – Hum – Uskoplje – Zelenika was put into operation on July 16 and 17, 1901. The length of the route (Uskoplje – Zelenika) is 65.4 km (from Sarajevo, 329 km). The railway ceased operations on June 1, 1969.

How was it built? At the end of 1898, construction began on the route from Gabela to Uskopje (Herzegovina Railway, 93 km) and from Uskopje to Zelenika (Dalmatian Railway, 53.4 km, and Herzegovina Railway, 12 km), totaling 65.4 km in length. It should be noted that this branch of the Dalmatian connecting railway, measuring 7.4 kilometers, crossed Herzegovina territory as Bosnian land ownership, near Sutorina, and was built at the expense of the Bosnian government. This was because the construction contractor for work in Herzegovina was the Construction Department of the Land Government in Sarajevo, while over Dalmatian territory, the construction was managed by the railway department of the Imperial-Royal (k.k.) Railway Directorate from Vienna, using their own resources.
